Letterboxing Pub Crawl.

From: Poison Ivy (poizniv@gmail.com) | Date: 2005-11-30 19:51:33 UTC
I've already made some inquiries into some bars in Leesburg, Va.
for a letterboxing pub crawl.

(After the Loudon mystery gather, in September,
I mentioned that I wanted a meet that met in a bar.)

I'm looking at Saturday, January 14th for the pub crawl,
but the event's not firm yet. There's carving and organizing to do.

I'm working on it. Who's up for a letterboxing pub crawl?

Don't think I can make it to VA but will be interested to know how you
do it and how it goes. It sounds like a good way to get some of my
drinkin' pals into LetterBoxing here in SB, CA.

Sigh... I suggest bar-based letterboxing, and the idea takes off in a
part of the country where I no longer reside. Are DC area bars
smoke-free, yet? Having worked as a bartender for a number of years,
I consider California and New York's smoke-free bar laws to be the
height of civilization.

Who wants a logbook that smells of stale smoke, to say nothing of our
own luxurious tresses...

Take time to remember planing Specific Gravity at
Isacc Newtown's. I still laugh when I conjure up the
image. Three slightly inerbriated women a teenager a
pregnant women and a dog planting a box in the dark.
It's a wonder anyone ever found that box. I have
recarved the stamp and hope we can replace the box on
sat. Can we do it in daylight?

I'm a teetotaler myself, but as long as no one minds if I don't down anything stronger than a Cherry Coke, I'd definitely consider it! You know, provided the scheduling and the geography and all that hoopla worked out for me.

Take care,

Funny this should become a topic.
I planted a box in a TexMex Sports bar a couple of months ago in the
damp Pacific NW.
Not because I'm big into bars but because this place has great food,
service and a fun atmosphere. They have a separate area that is kid
friendly with Xbox and big screen TVs, etc.
I enjoy letterboxing because it's fun to figure out the clues and I
discover many places I wouldn't have whether they are in doors or out.
So I hope you all keep planting boxes even in doors if you are so
inspired. Another part of the beauty of this hobby is that everyone can
choose to hunt the boxes/clues that look interesting to them.
Happy Hunting!
